SIBU (June 15): This district has recorded a total of 19,345 individuals who have completed their second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

Assistant Minister of Local Government and Housing Dr Annuar Rapaee said also from the same data recorded as at June 13 this year, 24,444 people in Sibu had received their first dose.

In this respect, he said the Sibu Division Disaster Management Committee (SDDMC), of which he is the coordinator, would continue to intensify the vaccination programme here through a number of measures such as setting up more vaccination centres (PPVs), including industrial PPVs for the employees and their families.

“The army will also be involved as we plan to form more mobile teams, and also to open the PPV at army camp to members of the public.

“Apart from that, the committee would directly engage the JKKKs (village security and development committees) and longhouses chieftains in the programme,” said the assistant minister in his Facebook post yesterday.

Dr Annuar also reiterated SDDMC’s target of inoculating at least 70 per cent, or 232,528 people, of Sibu’s total population by the end of the Covid-19 vaccination programme.
