Sarawak police issue 25 SOP violation compounds since yesterday, nine for failure to scan MySejahtera

KUCHING (July 14): A total 25 compounds were issued the police in the last 24 hours for violation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) with failing to scan MySejahtera QR code before entering premises topping the list, said the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in its Covid-19 daily update today.

SDMC stated that nine police compounds were issued for this offence under the current phase of National Recovery Plan (NRP).

The other compounds were issued for offences such as ferrying passengers above the limit allowed under the previous first phase of NRP with seven, not wearing face masks in public areas (5), being in public beyond the stipulated time (3), and workers capacity exceeding 30 per cent and without physical distancing (1).

According to SDMC, Kuching topped the number of police compounds issued with 11, followed by Padawan (6), Miri (3), Lawas (3) and Limbang (2).

There were no arrests made. According to SDMC again, the cumulative number of compounds issued by the police so far is 9,300.

Apart from that, four local authorities across the state namely the Padawan Municipal Council, Bau District Council, Sri Aman District Council and Matu and Daro District Council also issued one compound each to those who flouted the SOP.

“The compounds are for offences such as failure to update the attendance logbook or incomplete entry (2) failure to scan the MySejahtera QR code or record particulars on the logbook (1) and not wearing face mask (1),” said the committee.

SDMC said this brought the cumulative number of compounds issued by the various local authorities across the state to 1,299.
