Sabah’s STPM candidates attain excellence for fourth year

KOTA KINABALU: Special Tasks Minister Datuk Haji Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif congratulated the 2020 Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) candidates for their excellent performance in the examination.

He said that out of the 7,409 school candidates who sat for the examination in 2020, about 7,330 attained full passes.

He said that the performance of 98.93 percent of the candidates passing the examination in 2020 as compared to 98.86 percent in 2019 indicates that there is an improvement in the pass percentage by 0.07 percent.

He also said that the Cumulative Average Value Grade for Sabah for the year 2020 is 2.71 compared to 2.67 in 2019.

“On the part of the State government, I congratulate the STPM candidates for passing and attaining the excellent result even while the country faces the pandemic.

“This is the fourth year that our STPM candidates have attained excellence with the percentage passes continuing to increase,” he said.

He also congratulated State Education Director Datuk Dr Mistirine Radin and her officers and teachers for the STPM performance.

The best STPM candidate for Sabah in 2020 is Azizul Rashid from SMK Putatan who attained 5As.
He also said that 58 schools achieved 100 percent pass in 2020.

Meanwhile, 10 of the best schools under the number of candidates category are SMK Agama Limauan (Kimanis), SMK Agama Kota Kinabalu, SMK Kota Klias Beaufort, SMK Segama Lahad Datu, SMK Sindumin (Sipitang), SMK Kunak Jaya (Kunak) , SMK Merotai (Tawau), SM Agama Mohamad Ali (Ranau), SMK Membakut and SMK Madai (Kunak).

The 10 best schools under the candidates of between 50 and 99 people are Maktab Sabah, SMK Majakir, SMK Sepagaya, SMK Sandakan II, SMK Lohan, SMK Pengiran Omar, SMK Datuk Panglima Abdullah, Sekolah Tinggi Kota Kinabalu, SMK Takis and SMK Beluran.

The 10 best schools for candidates 100 and above are SMK Tamparuli, SMK Elopura II, SMK Putatan, SMK Bugaya, Kolej Tingkatan 6, SMK Limbanak, SMK Nabawan, Kolej Tingkatan 6 Tawau (B) and Kolej Tingkatan 6 Tawau (C) and SMK Muhibbah in Sandakan.
