KOTA KINABALU: Sabah recorded a high number of 323 Covid-19 cases on Friday.

Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said the increase was expected as an extensive targeted screening by the State Health Department is on going.

“The screening will increase our daily positive number on a short term but we are tackling the root of the problem. Please continue to observe all SOPs.

“Preliminary figures show the extent of infection in two clusters is worse than originally expected. The funeral/kenduri cluster in Kg Naruntung, Pitas has infected more villagers and relatives outside Pitas. The Bataras 1B cluster would probably contribute half of Kota Kinabalu’s number today,” he said in his Twitter post.

Masidi also revealed in his “tweet” that among the districts contributed to the cases on July 7 are Pitas (52), Kota Kinabalu (78), Kudat (36), Beaufort (27) and Papar (23).
