KOTA KINABALU: The challenges brought by the pandemic did not stop Sabah students from excelling in their Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) examination.

Aida Ellyka Ismadi attained a CGPA of 4.00 (straight As) despite issues with her online classes.

She said that online classes could be challenging at times as the teachers and students did not communicate directly.

“Sometimes it is difficult for the teachers to check the works that we have submitted because the internet line can be slow,” she told The Borneo Post.

Aida said that the communication between students and teachers is not that effective when classes are conducted online.

Nevertheless, she was grateful that she managed to score good marks despite the challenging year.

When asked about her revision techniques, Aida said that she is the type of student who likes to summarise her notes.

“I like to summarise thick books into one summarised A4 page,” she said.

The aspiring businesswoman seeks to bring a change in the local creative arts industry.

Aida plans to pursue a degree in the arts field and she is currently waiting for an offer from UPU.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Afeeq Daniel Hendry, who also attained CGPA of 4.00, said that the home-based teaching and learning (PdPR) system did not affect his concentration.

“The PdPR helped a lot. Usually when we study at home, we would only rely on books. But, with the PdPR, the teachers can also help us on WhatsApp and Telegram,” he said.

“I’m grateful that all my hard work finally paid off,” he added.

Muhammad revealed that he did not have specific any methods of revising.

“All I do is focus in class. Do my homework. That’s all,” he said.

Muhammad plans to continue his studies in the field economics in University Malaya (UM).
Both Aida and Muhammad are students from Kolej Tingkatan Enam Kota Kinabalu.
