KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (CVLB) has waived the age limit condition for the replacement of vehicles in the public transport sector in the state.
Its chairman, Chin Kim Hiung, said the decision to waive the condition could bring some relief to the public transport sector in Sabah badly affected by the current economic situation and Covid-19 pandemic.
“The CVLB, at its September meeting, deliberated on the matter and reached the decision,” Chin said in a statement here today in response to enquiries from industry players.
He said prior to the meeting, the replacement or transfer of ownership applications or any change of vehicles must be to a vehicle which is new or not more than 10 years old.
“The CVLB decided to set aside this condition to make it easier for permit holders to transfer ownership and for those planning to acquire a replacement vehicle,” he added.
The waiver is applicable to taxis, minibuses, factory buses and other vehicles such as charter, express or school buses, he said.
