KLANG, Oct 23 — The royal wedding reception of the Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah and his bride Datin Paduka Seri Afzaa Fadini Abdul Aziz was held with full regal tradition at the Balairung Seri, Istana Alam Shah here last night.
The ceremony began at 7.30pm with the arrival of Sultan of Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah and the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, who graced the occasion to witness the royal couple’s reception.
At 7.45pm, the bride and groom, elegantly attired in cream royal attire, made their entrance accompanied by members of the Selangor royal family.
The ceremonial blessing or merenjis, was first performed by the Sultan and the Tengku Permaisuri, followed by the groom’s mother, Puan Nurlisa Idris Abdullah and the bride’s parents.
The ceremony continued with a prayer recital led by Selangor Mufti Datuk Anhar Opir, before guests proceeded to the Royal Banquet at the Balai Santapan Diraja.
Among those present were Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, members of the state executive council, royal family members, senior government officials and other distinguished guests.
The royal couple were officially married in a closed-door royal solemnisation ceremony at the Masjid Istana Diraja, Istana Alam Shah on October 2, with the marriage vows pronounced at 10.08am in a single recitation, followed by an 11-gun salute by the 41st Battery of the Royal Artillery Regiment (Ceremonial).
Tengku Amir Shah and Afzaa Fadini are scheduled to meet the public at the Majlis Santunan Kasih Pengantin Diraja Bersama Rakyat at Dataran Kemerdekaan Shah Alam on November 7, from 8pm to 11pm. — Bernama
