Police issue 35 compounds for defying SOPs with breaking curfew topping the list

KUCHING (June 20): The police have issued a total of 35 compounds statewide today for violations of standard operating procedures (SOPs), said the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

In a statement, the committee said 18 compounds were issued in Kuching, Bintulu (10), Lawas (four), Sibu (two) and Miri (one).

The committee said a majority of the compounds or 24 compounds issued were for being outside after 10pm without valid reasons, travelling in a private vehicle with more than two people (3), failure to wear face mask (2), not checking-in via MySejahtera when entering a premise (2), exiting an Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) area and cutting off the wristband (2), workers failing to limit the number of customers in a premise (1) and selling illegal lottery (1).

Since March 18 last year, the police have issued a total of 7,988 compounds.

As for the local authorities under the Ministry of Local Government and Housing, SDMC said 19 compounds were issued, with eight from Kapit District Council, Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (4), Padawan Municipal Council (3), Bintulu Development Authority (2), Betong District Council (1) and Miri District Council (1).

The committee said four compounds were issued for not wearing face mask, not updating or incomplete registration book (3), not registering via MySejahtera or record book (3), not observing social distancing (3), operating without permission (2), dine-in service (2), operating beyond the stipulated hours (1) and not preparing hand sanitiser (1).

Since Feb 1 this year, the local authorities have issued 1,129 compounds.
