PH’s achievements in Perak crisis, according to Nga

Perak DAP chief Nga Kor Ming said Pakatan Harapan had achieved several successes in the recent state crisis.

PETALING JAYA: Perak DAP chairman Nga Kor Ming has lauded Pakatan Harapan’s unity in the face of Umno’s offer of executive council positions to assemblymen of PH partners Amanah and PKR.

Nga listed several achievements of PH and DAP in the recent political crisis in Perak, resulting from a confidence motion against then menteri besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu.

A new state government has been formed by Umno, PAS and PPBM after several days in which Umno was rumoured to be aligning itself with PH members to gain majority support in the state assembly.

Nga claimed the opposition coalition did not suffer any loss in the recent crisis.

Instead there were several achievements, including the removal of Faizal, whom he described as being a “incompetent MB”.

Nga said that PH remained united throughout and had held on to their principles.

“People will be able to see Perikatan Nasional and Umno are all for personal benefits rather than taking care of the people’s welfare,” he said in a Facebook post.

Nga also said that DAP’s proposal to work with Umno proved the party was not an “anti-Malay or anti-Islam” party but only anti-corruption.

DAP also proved it is a principled party which was “steadfast”.

Nga, who is assemblyman for Aulong, said his party and PH had held firm to the principle that any cooperation with Umno must be based on multiracial good governance with integrity.

“Since Umno chose to remain with the kleptocrats, PH will soldier on without any cooperation with them.”

Nga went on to explain that DAP expressed its willingness to work with Umno only after its party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said they were willing to work with any party including PH to form the next state government.

He also revealed that Umno offered exco posts to PKR and Amanah – fellow components in PH – and said that if it was accepted, it would have broken up the coalition.

And to resolve the deadlock, Perak DAP issued a statement to state that the party was willing to work with Umno to form “a multiracial, clean, strong and sustainable government”.

“This statement was issued in line with the decision made by PH presidential council’s stand that we are willing to form a government with Umno for the welfare of the people.”

Yesterday, Umno assemblyman Saarani Mohamad was sworn in as the state’s 14th menteri besar. It ended a six-day tussle for the post of menteri besar.
