KUCHING (July 2): The State Health Department has declared three new Covid-19 clusters today, with two linked to Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) areas.
The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in their daily update today said that of the three new clusters, two are community clusters while one is a workplace cluster.
The first community cluster is the Jalan Sagang Cluster in Bau and involves a few families at two villages at Jalan Sagang in Singai. A total of 55 people were screened, with 29 testing positive and 26 negative, said SDMC.
All positive cases were admitted to the Sarawak General Hospital and Kuching district quarantine and low-risk patients treatment centre (PKRC).
The second community cluster was the Sungai Gamong Cluster in Meradong involving a longhouse under EMCO at Batu 3, Jalan KJD, Sungai Gamong. A total of 39 people were screened with 13 positive, 25 negtive and one still awaiting lab results.
The workplace cluster is the Kilometre 85 Cluster in Mukah involving an oil palm plantation under EMCO at Kilometre 85, Jalan Mukah-Selangau in Mukah. A total of 348 people screened, with 92 testing positive, 251 negative and five still awaiting lab results.
The positive cases were referred to Bintulu Hospital, with one admitted to the hospital and the rest admitted to the Mukah district PKRC.
At the same time, SDMC also announced the end of the Selumit Cluster in Tanjung Manis after no new cases were recorded in the last 28 days.
Meanwhile, the state has 97 active clusters, with 15 continuing to report a total of 82 new Covid-19 cases today.
On top of the list was the Kilometre 85 Cluster in Mukah with 23 cases, followed by Po Ai Cluster in Sri Aman (15), Sungai Gamong Cluster in Meradong (11), Simpang Koko Cluster in Sarikei (10), Kampung Sebandi Hilir Cluster in Lundu (5), Quadruplex Lapan Enam Cluster in Miri (5), Nyelutong Cluster in Betong (4), Muara Tabuan Cluster in Kuching (2), Jalan Masket Cluster in Sebauh (1), Nanga Sejugam Cluster in Julau (1), Mongkos 2 Cluster in Tebedu (1), Nanga Tada Cluster in Kanowit (1), Jalan Sungai Antu Cluster in Sibu (1), Luteng Cluster in Telang Usan (1) and Blimbing Cluster in Bau (1).
