No Further Action Against The Secondary School Teacher Accused Of Making Rape Jokes

Police investigation into a school teacher — who was accused of making rape jokes during a physical and health education class — has been completed, with the case being classified as no further action (NFA)

In a statement today, 5 August, Sungai Buloh district police chief Supt Shafa’aton Abu Bakar said that her department received a notice of NFA against the teacher from the deputy public prosecutor.

“I understand that the deputy public prosecutor issued an NFA directive in relation to the case,” Shafa’aton was quoted as saying by Sinar Harian.

The teacher, who has not been identified by his name so far, was accused by a Form 5 student, Ain Husniza Saiful Nizam, back in April

More than two weeks later, the teacher was transferred to the Selangor State Education Department and was ordered by the Ministry of Education (MOE) to remain there until police investigations were completed.

The Ministry’s acknowledgement of the incident at the time came amidst widespread criticism from the public over its silence and treatment of the student who exposed the matter.

MOE justified its silence over the case, saying the case was still under police investigation.

Since then, while there has been an outpouring of support for the 17-year-old, there has also been a barrage of criticism against her.

And just yesterday, 4 August, she was served a letter of demand by the teacher, demanding RM1 million in compensation for defamation:
