KOTA KINABALU: Nestlé Malaysia recently announced that it has fulfilled its commitment to contribute RM15 million to support Malaysians during this Covid-19 pandemic, investing in both immediate and longer-term relief efforts.

The Company’s year-long efforts culminated in its Nestlé Cares Back-To-School Programme in collaboration with the Empire Project NGO, to donate school uniforms and supplies, as well as Nestlé products to over 1,100 low-income families.

To help prepare students for the new school year in 2021, Nestlé reached out to 150 families in Sabah through its Back-to-School campaign. This saw the Group providing new school uniforms, school shoes, school bags and stationery, as well as Family Care Pack containing Nestlé products for the nourishment of the families.

Nestle contributed School pack & goodies bag for B40 students in  three  schools in Kuala Penyu,  namely  SK St Stephen Kiaru  (41 students),  SK Menumpang  (40 students) and  SK St Joseph  (69 students).

The school pack consists of a  school bag, two pairs of  uniforms, two  pairs of black shoes, a pair  of socks  and a stationary set  while the goodies bag contained  Nestle products such as Milo, Maggi, Nestum, Everyday & Nestle Breakfast Cereals.

Amongst many other initiatives, this programme includes Nestlé’s partnership with the Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) to distribute food and beverage (F&B) products to help nourish frontliners and communities in need, along with a cash contribution of RM1 million for upgrading of emergency medical equipment in MRCS ambulances.

Throughout the year, multiple other initiatives were also spearheaded to improve the livelihoods of vulnerable communities, particularly within the B40 groups and impacted local small and medium enterprises.

This included the Nestlé Salary for Life Contest (Peraduan Nestlé Gaji Seumur Hidup), whereby Nestlé leveraged the opportunity to give back to society by providing donations to 17 charitable organisations, nominated by the 17 finalists of the contest.

The Bangkit Bersama Nestlé Campaign (Rise with Nestlé) was also launched to support local F&B operators through trade assistance programmes and cash contributions.
