Najib mocks PH after Felda’s debts hit RM10.7 billion

Najib Razak said that Pakatan Harapan had claimed it had rescued Felda following initiatives it took.

PETALING JAYA: Najib Razak has mocked the previous Pakatan Harapan government’s initiatives to revive Felda, following a minister’s announcement that the government agency’s debt had surged to RM10.7 billion.

The former prime minister said the previous administration had disposed of Felda’s assets in a bid to reduce its then RM8 billion debt.

The Pekan MP pointed out that PH had also claimed it had injected RM6.23 billion into the agency last year.

“After that, PH pushed the propaganda that it managed to save Felda,” he said in a Facebook post. Najib also shared links to news reports to back his argument.

Yet, he said, despite pumping money into the agency and selling off its assets, Felda’s debt still rose. “What kind of maths is this?”

Earlier today, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Economic Affairs) Mustapa Mohamed told the Dewan Rakyat that Felda had accumulated a total debt of RM10.7 billion.

He said Felda had been facing financial difficulties since 2013.

Najib went on to ask if he could now accuse PH of robbing RM2.7 billion from Felda, just as the coalition had done when they claimed he had robbed the agency when it incurred the RM8 billion debt.
