MIRI (May 15): The district police here has arrested a 14-year-old boy at a house in Tudan Phase 6, here last Friday (May 14) for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl.
District deputy police chief Supt Mohd Sabri Zainol confirmed the arrest of the local suspect, adding that the suspect, who was still schooling, was arrested yesterday around 4.15pm at the house in which the rape was believed to have occurred.
“The victim has known the suspect for six months before she went to the suspect’s house with her sibling on the day of the incident.
“The victim admitted that the incident had occurred around 1am yesterday,” said Mohd Sabri when contacted.
Mohd Sabri said the boy was arrested by a team from the Criminal Investigation Division of the Miri District Police Headquarters after receiving a police report lodged by the victim’s mother.
Following that, the suspect was taken to the Miri Central Police Station for further action, and the case was being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape, said Mohd Sabri.
