COLORADO: A new generation of laser speed gun is coming to Europe. The TruCam II speed enforcement laser has an exceptional maximum range of 1,500 meters and is accurate to 2 km/h. Police forces in the UK have started using the device, and it is currently being trialed in Spain.
Developed by the American company, Laser Technology, this handheld speed camera can detect the speed at which vehicles are traveling, ideally within a range of 50 to 150 meters – although functional up to 1,500 meters – thanks to its infrared laser that’s effective night and day. In terms of precision, this speed gun is accurate to 2 km/h and measures speeds of up to 320 km/h.
Priced over €10,000 (approximately $US12,230) per unit, the TruCam II is an incredibly effective tool that can take up to three photos per second, each with autofocus, before sending them directly to police servers for processing. The camera is water- and dust-resistant and offers wired Ethernet and WiFi wireless connectivity.
The device has just started being used in the UK and in Belgium. It is being tested in other European countries, such as Spain.
