Today, 18 December, 1 Utama Shopping Centre took to Facebook to share a shopper’s successful proposal in the mall’s car park.
According to them, a man named Yang approached the mall to ask if they could be his “secret accomplice” for his unique marriage proposal.
“We were so touched (by his request), we immediately jumped at the chance to help him make the woman of his dreams his forever love!” 1 Utama Shopping Centre wrote.
“Yang’s romantic story started brewing 10 years ago when he first fetched a lovely lady on 15 December to 1 Utama Shopping Centre for a date in his Proton Saga,” they said
“When they arrived at this particular spot in our car park, Yang asked her to be his girlfriend.”
Their love grew every day from thereon.
On the fateful day of 15 December 2020, Yang knelt down and asked for her hand in marriage at the same spot he asked her to be his girlfriend exactly 10 years ago.
Their love has come full circle!
“For his marriage proposal, he chose the same day, at the same car park location, with the same car, to plan the surprise as the place meant a lot to him,” 1 Utama Shopping Centre related.
It is said that Yang and his friends planned out the full set-up at the parking spot.
They had balloons, flowers, Polaroid photographs, and other props prepared ahead.
“[They] even drew an illustration of how he visualised everything to show us, sparing no detail to make his proposal perfect!” they said.

Speaking to SAYS, Yang said he met his fiancée in secondary school
When asked if the Proton Saga was the same vehicle 10 years ago, he said no.
“I don’t have the original car anymore. This is my friend’s car. I rented from him for this proposal,” Yang told SAYS in a message.
