Policemen arrested the suspect (second right) at a house in Lutong.
MIRI (Aug 23): Police arrested a 44-year-old man for allegedly threatening his neighbours with a machete at a house in Lutong yesterday.
The suspect was detained at 1.35pm following a report lodged by a 24-year-old female victim.
It is learnt that the suspect had approached the front gate of his neighbours’ house at 12.45am and started screaming.
The complainant and her husband did not step out of the house for their safety.
The suspect then threw a garbage bin at the complainant’s house, damaging her car’s rear window and the gate lights.
The cause of the incident has yet to be ascertained.
District police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari, when contacted, confirmed the arrest, and said that a 43-centimetre long machete has been seized.
He added that the case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation and Section 427 of the Penal Code for mischief.
