PETALING JAYA: A lockdown at a Top Glove workers’ dormitory in Klang, Selangor, will end tomorrow after 28 days.
Restrictions under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) will also be lifted at a detention centre in Sandakan, Sabah.
However two villages in Lahad Datu remain under EMCO restrictions until Dec 29.
Senior Minister for Security Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the EMCO at the Top Glove dormitory began on Nov 17 and was extended by 14 days from Nov 30.
“After 28 days of EMCO in this area, the health ministry found that the positive cases there have declined and no more screening samples are waiting for results.
“All negative cases have also undergone home surveillance and observation order during the Covid-19 incubation period,” he said in a statement.
The EMCO at the detention centre in Sibuga, Sandakan, Sabah, will also end tomorrow as scheduled.
He said there were only 29 active cases at the detention centre, involving detainees and staff.
However, the EMCO at Kg Desa Bajau and Kg Dasar Baru in Lahad Datu, Sabah, will be extended for another 14 days until Dec 29.
He said there were still 1,160 screening samples waiting for results.
On the daily offences, he said police arrested 360 people yesterday over movement control order related offences.
Of the total, Ismail said 340 people were issued compound fines while 20 were remanded.
Most of the offences were for failing to observe physical distancing.
Among other offences were participating in activities at entertainment centres, failure to wear face masks, and failing to provide materials for contact tracing or registration.
A total of 2,654 compliance task force teams were deployed to conduct checks on supermarkets, restaurants, hawker stalls, factories, banks, government offices, as well as land, water and air transport terminals.
Ismail also said police caught 23 illegal immigrants as well as confiscated five vehicles and one boat yesterday under Ops Benteng.
He added that 85,798 people had arrived through KLIA from July 24 to Dec 13 from various countries.
A total of 528 people, who tested positive for Covid-19, were sent to hospital for treatment, while 74,291 were allowed to return home during this period.
Ismail said 10,979 people are currently undergoing mandatory quarantine.
