JOHOR BARU, March 12 – [10.05pm] With unofficial results indicating a resounding victory for Barisan Nasional (BN), the coalition’s supporters were seen celebrating with shouts of Hidup BN at the Johor BN Command Centre on Jalan Yahya Awal here.

Many BN supporters were in high-spirits and cheering loudly as BN’s resounding win at the Johor polls became clear.

Earlier, supporters from components Umno, MCA and MIC decked out in the ‘BN blue’ shirts arrived in droves before settling in front of the large display showing the unofficial vote tally.

Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan kept spirits buoyed with his regular updates on the seats that BN was unofficially leading in or had won.

[9.30pm] BN now ahead in Johor with 42 seats

Barisan Nasional (BN) is leading in 42 state seats in the Johor state election after having two seats taken over in the ongoing tally.

It was earlier reported that BN appears have pulled ahead of its rivals with the coalition claiming it has managed to secure a majority of 44 state seats at 8.15pm after polls closed this evening.

The announcement was made at the Johor BN Command Centre on Jalan Yahya Awal here.

[9.15pm] BN’s Johor MB candidate Hasni retains Benut

Incumbent Johor mentri besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad retained the Benut state seat comfortably.

The Johor Barisan Nasional chairman won the Benut state seat with a 5,379 majority in a four-cornered contest.

He contested against Pejuang’s Iskandar Noor Ibrahim, Perikatan Nasional’s Datuk Isa Ab. Hamid and PKR’s Haniff @ Ghazali Hosman.

Hasni previously won the seat in the 14th general election (GE14) in 2018 with a 4,447 majority.

[8.50pm] Pakatan leads in 12 seats

Pakatan Harapan (PH) leads in 12 state assembly seats, unofficial results for the Johor state election showed tonight.

As of 8.35pm, the 12 seats are Bukit Pasir, Simpang Jeram, Jementah, Tangkak, Bentayan, Penggaram, Mengkibol, Johor Jaya, Stulang, Perling, Skudai and Senai.

[8.35pm] BN ahead in Johor with 44 seats

Barisan Nasional (BN) appears to have pulled ahead of its rivals in the Johor state election, with the coalition claiming it has managed to secure a majority of 44 state seats after polls closed this evening.

Unofficial results see the coalition in the lead in 44 out of 56 state seats at 8.15pm.

The announcement was made at the Johor BN Command Centre on Jalan Yahya Awal here.

[8:15pm] Pakatan leading in Perling and Skudai

Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidates are currently leading in several seats, including Perling and Skudai, according to unofficial results.

In Perling, DAP Johor chief Liew Chin Tong is currently ahead with 15,152 votes, followed closely by Barisan Nasional’s Tan Hiang Kee with 12,577 votes.

Meanwhile, in Skudai, PH candidate Marina Ibrahim has a comfortable lead of 6,546 votes to BN rival Lim Soon Hai’s 3,031.

DAP is also currently leading in Stulang, Senai and Johor Jaya, according to unofficial results provided by the party.

[7:45pm] BN now leading in Johor polls with 34 seats, says Ahmad Maslan

Barisan Nasional (BN) said the coalition is leading in the Johor state election after managing to secure a majority of 34 state seats as vote counting begins this evening.

Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan announced that the coalition is leading in 34 out of 56 state seats.

He made the announcement of ghe unofficial results at the Johor BN Command Centre in Jalan Yahya Awal here.

[7pm] BN claims it has lead in Johor polls with 31 seats

Barisan Nasional (BN) claims it is leading in the Johor state election after securing a majority of 31 seats this evening.

The figure is also a simple majority based on unofficial results from the Johor BN Command Centre on Jalan Yahya Awal here.

As of 7pm, BN appears to be ahead of its rivals securing 31 out of the 56 seats that are up for grabs.

Earlier, cheers were heard from BN’s command centre here as the unofficial results saw BN leading with a simple majority.

BN’s top leaders such as Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan and other component party leaders were also present.

Some of the seats in which BN is ahead are Buloh Kasap, Kemelah, Tenang, Bekok, Tangkak, Serom, Bukit Naning, Maharani, Sungai Balang, Seri Medan, Yong Peng, Senggarang, Mahkota, Paloh, Kahang, Endau, Tenggaroh, Penawar, Tanjung Surat, Tiram, Puteri Wangsa, Johor Jaya, Skudai and Kota.

A majority of early votes totalling 21,407 are also said to have gone in BN’s favour.
