KOTA KINABALU: A lawyer, who represented a politician charged with molesting two women, including an Unduk Ngadau contestant, has filed a defamation suit against an association and its president for allegedly obstructing him from undertaking his duties as an advocate and solicitor.

Marcel Jude Joseph filed the suit via e-filing through his firm on Thursday, naming Shalmon Sanangan and Persatuan Pengamal Adat Sabah (Sabah Tradition Practitioners Association) as the first and second defendants respectively.

In the suit, Marcel sought declaration that the first and second defendants have allegedly infringed, impeded and obstructed him in the exercise of his duties and of his powers as
an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Kota Kinabalu.

Marcel also sought an injunction to restrain the first and second defendants whether by
themselves or by their servants or agents, from obstructing and interfering and in anyway hindering him from undertaking his duties as an officer of the court and as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Sabah and Sarawak of Kota Kinabalu.

He also claimed for damages, exemplary damages, cost and any other relief deemed fit by the court.
