SIBU (June 19): The Third Royal Ranger Regiment (3RRD) camp in Mile 14 Oya Road has started its two-day drive-thru vaccination process today.

According to the vaccination coordinator Lieutenant Colonel Anuar Ahmad, a total of 456 soldiers and staffers at the army camp in Sibu would be administered the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine at the camp and so far, the progress has been running smoothly.

“This is part of our programme to give vaccination to our soldiers and the staff and at the same time, it is an exercise for us in any event if they need our service outside for the drive-thru vaccination.

“In any event there is a need for drive-thru vaccination for the public, we are ready because we already have the layout and we know what is working and what is not working,” he told reporters when met today.

He however said there could be some shortcomings for the public especially when they come in big numbers.

According to him, 246 soldiers and staffers will be receiving their vaccination today at the camp while the remaining tomorrow.

He said the vaccination programme is from 8am until 5pm.

“We expect to finish before 5pm because everything is running smoothly and judging from our speed, we can finish early,” he said.

He said two health officers were involved in the vaccination process, assisted by 11 paramedics and other supporting officers.

To ensure that the programme could run smoothly, there were registration counters, consultancy counters, waiting area, observation area and check out area.

Sibu Divisional Disaster Management Committee (SDDMC) committee Dr Annuar Rapaee visited the camp to observe the vaccination process.
