KUCHING (Aug 26): The Sarawak Health Department has declared four new Covid-19 clusters in the state today, where two were community clusters and the other two workplace cluster.
According to the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), workplace cluster Se-Menyan Cluster in Sibu had infected 66 including the index case with Covid-19 out of 293 screened, while 22 more were still waiting for hteir lab test results.
This cluster involved workers and residents of two plantation sites in Sengan and Menyan areas in Sibu, with 66 being reported as new cases today.
Another workplace cluster the Jalan Hulu Engkamop Cluster in Pakan had recorded 14 infections including the index case, which involved workers and residents of two temporary camps for communication tower situated at Jalan Hulu Engkamop in Pakan.
Seven of the 14 infections were among the new cases reported today, while one other individual still waiting for his lab test result.
SDMC said the Sibuluh-Nowang Cluster in Bau had detected 39 Covid-19 cases including the index case, with 23 still waiting for their lab test results out of 145 screened.
The cluster involved the communities of Kampung Sibuluh and Kampung Nowang located along the Bau-Lundu Road in Bau.
SDMC said the Telok Batu Cluster in Meradong had recorded 16 cases including the index case put of 60 screened, with two still waiting for their lab test results, and 13 were new cases reported today.
This cluster involved a longhouse in Telok Batu, Meradong which has been placed under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO), the committee added.
Meanwhile, the Mongkos 2 Cluster in Tebedu; Jalan Demak Laut Cluster in Kuching; Sungai Mangga Cluster in Simunjan and the Kerina Cluster in Serian have ended today.
To date, Sarawak has a total of 119 active clusters, of which 15 reported new infections today.
Kampung Bunuk Cluster topped the list of infections with 44 new cases followed by Bungey 2 Cluster (40), Long Urun Cluster (21), Kampung Matang Lot Cluster (11), Lubuk Bukut Cluster (8), Mas Sawai Cluster (8), Jalan Hospital Sri Aman Cluster (7), Opar Cluster (7), Kampung Tanjong Bako Cluster (4), Lorong Cahaya Damai Cluster (3), Kampung Lintang Baru Cluster (2), Kampung Bunga Cluster (2), Tanjong Kibong 2 Cluster (1), Jalan Buan Cluster (1) and Nanga Pelugau Cluster (1).
