KOTA SAMARAHAN (June 18): The coming installation of traffic lights at roundabouts along the Kuching-Samarahan Expressway will not only solve the serious road congestion but also bring more development to Samarahan, said Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) chairman Dato Peter Minos.
He said the council’s effort in resolving traffic woes in Kota Samarahan coupled with the many upcoming development projects will attract more business operators to set up shop.
“I believe the businessmen know the future and can make wise business predictions before they put in their investments.
“I’ve asked some of the supermarket operators why they are flocking to Kota Samarahan, and they told me it is because Samarahan is developing fast and expanding,” he said in a statement yesterday.
He noted that with growth at six per cent, Samarahan is now one of the fastest growing areas in Sarawak, and expects four-star or even five-star hotels to emerge in Samarahan in the coming years.
“There is also news that ART is coming to Samarahan too,” added Minos, referring to the state government’s planned Autonomous Rapid Transit system.
