Doom Eternal Heads To Nintendo Switch On 8 December

It was quite the surprise back in 2017 when the Doom reboot was announced to be available on the Nintendo Switch. Now its sequel, Doom Eternal, has been announced to also be making the transition to the Nintendo handheld console hybrid.

The Nintendo Switch port is done by Panic Button, the same folks who did the preceding title. And judging from that reception, there’s no reason to believe that Doom Eternal would not run just as well. But of course, in the same vein, graphical performance is expected to not quite match the console or PC version.

According to Eurogamer, the Switch port of Doom Eternal will have support for motion aiming. This means that you can aim by using both the analog stick and by moving the Joy-Con. Sounds great in theory, but it remains to be seen if it translates as well in gameplay. After all, motion controls aren’t exactly the most precise form of input, especially when it comes to a game as fast-paced as this.

Doom Eternal will grace the Nintendo Switch next week, on 8 December 2020. Unlike the previous title though, there’s no physical version for the game at all. This means the singleplayer campaign and the multiplayer mode are both digital downloads only.
