DAP Miri welcomes Miri Hospital molecular lab extension project

MIRI (June 5): Democratic Action Party (DAP) Miri applauded the ‘Kita Jaga Miri’ platform for its initiative to extend the Miri Hospital molecular lab that could further benefit the people here in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.

DAP Miri Youth Chief Peter Hee in a press statement today said the spike in Covid-19 positive cases in the division has been worrying, therefore the extension project is crucial to allow the expedite of swab test results of person under investigation/surveillance (PUI/PUS).

“End of last month, DAP had donated RM10,000 and had wired the donation to the Advocates Association of Sarawak (AAS) Miri Branch.

“We are happy that we are able to contribute to the cause and that we hope they could raise sufficient fund as soon as possible to allow the project to complete in timely manner,” said Hee.

The RM750,000-extension project of Miri Hospital Molecular lab had commenced on June 3 and expected to complete by June 11.

The ‘Kita Jaga Miri’ platform comprises Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers (Sheda) Miri, Rotary Club of Miri Oil Town (RCMOT), AAS Miri and the Federation of Miri Division Chinese Association Sarawak Youth.

Hee also added that DAP Miri pledged to continue to look and reach out to those in need, especially during the challenging times of the pandemic.
