KOTA KINABALU: The Wildlife Rescue Unit (WRU) caught a crocodile at Taman Perumahan Bitsa Ridge, Luyang here.

“On 9th of July, WRU received a report of crocodile presence in Taman Perumahan Bitsa Ridge, Luyang.

“According to the complainant, Rodmen Lim, his mother saw the crocodile moving towards the bushy area in their backyard. When she tried to check out the area, it was nowhere to be found.

“She even checked the neighbourhood, but still no signs of crocodile anywhere. Worried that the crocodile may cause harm to anyone in the residential area, he immediately contacted WRU for assistance,” said WRU in a Facebook post.

When WRU arrived at the reported location in the afternoon, the team searched high and low for the crocodile but their efforts were no avail.

Rodmen was then asked to immediately call WRU again for any sightings of the wild animal.

That very same day, he called WRU to report that the crocodile was back and was seen in the roadside bushes of the residential area.

The WRU  team arrived around 7.55pm and managed to capture the almost six-foot long crocodile.
It was then taken to the Wildlife Rescue Centre in Potuki before being released to the wild.

In the meantime, the crocodile will be temporarily kept there while being monitored by WRU rangers and veterinarian.
