PAPAR: Police are looking for two wanted criminals who rammed their vehicle into police patrol cars here on Tuesday.

Papar police chief DSP Batholomew Umpit said both suspects, age 21 and 36, are wanted for several crimes, including 10 cases involving stolen telecommunication cables worth RM100,000.

“Prior to the incident, police identified both suspects at an open area around 10.30pm.

“As police surrounded the suspects to make an arrest, they fled in a vehicle.

“In the bid to escape, the suspects rammed their vehicle into police cars,” he said on Wednesday.

Batholomew said the suspects’ identities were obtained following the arrest of a third suspect, age 19, a couple of months back.

“We believed the group have been active since last year and were also involved in 10 cases of stealing telecommunication cables worth RM100,000,” he said.

Batholomew said a police manhunt had been made for the suspects and the case is being investigated under Section 307 and 379 of the Penal code for attempted murder and theft respectively.
