Covid-19: Sarawak records 1,538 new cases as Malaysia registers 17,672 new cases

KUCHING (Aug 23): Sarawak’s daily Covid-19 new infections took another dip to 1,538 cases, while the country’s daily new cases also dropped further to 17,672 cases today, said Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

The Health director-general said this brought Sarawak’s infections tally to 99,838 cases, while Malaysia’s total cases to 1,572,765.

“Selangor continued to top the infections list with 4,316 cases followed by Sabah with 2,474 cases and Kedah (1,602), Sarawak, Johor (1,367), Penang (1,451) and Kelantan (1,176),” he said in a Facebook post.

Dr Noor Hisham said other states and territories that reported three-digit cases were Perak (952), Kuala Lumpur (891), Pahang (506), Negeri Sembilan (478), Terengganu (470) and Melaka (363).

He added that Perlis and Putrajaya recorded 57 cases and 24 cases respectively while Labuan had just seven new infections.

Yesterday, the country reported 19,807 new cases while Sarawak had 1,772.

Malaysia’s last new record high was 23,564 cases on Aug 20 while Sarawak’s daily highest infections were 2,548, also on Aug 20.
