Satu Ati Club members reached out to families who rises white flags in Pujut, Tudan and Senadin.
MIRI (July 10): A group of Satu Ati Club members recently went to several areas in Miri to distribute donations to 40 needy families here.
According to the club’s founder and adviser Thomas Inau, the charity activity was carried out after seeing many families here putting up white flags to let others know that they were in need.
“Even though our contribution is small, we hope it can help lessen their burden,” he said, adding that such activity was nothing new for the club.
The club has been reaching out to a number of families in need since it was set up in March 2019. To date, the club has more than 120 members, mostly from the Dayak community.
“Our club’s main mission is to help less fortunate members of the public, especially those from the Dayak community.
“But the main objective of our charity activity this time around is to ‘bring down’ white flags put up by those in need, irrespective of who they are,” Thomas said.
Some of the areas visited were Pujut, Tudan and Senadin where a number of white flags were seen and among items given to the families were food rations and basic daily essentials.
“We managed to identify and give out the contribution to 40 needy families. We actually prepared almost 50 sets to give away,” he said.
About 10 club members participated in the activity which was led by club secretary Manuel Awell.
“I know there are many others putting up white flags throughout the city. We hope other generous individuals can also come forward to help them whenever they come across these white flags,” Thomas added.
