TUARAN: A 10-year-old boy died after he was electrocuted while retrieving his kite from an electric wire at Kampung Tembiluk, Mengkabong here on Friday.
Tuaran police chief DSP Mohd Hamizi Halim said the incident happened when the boy and his friends were playing kite at an open field around 12.45pm.
“Police investigation found the boy’s kite was tangled with an electric wire near the area.
“The boy allegedly used an iron rod to retrieve his kite but was electrocuted,” he said.
Hamizi added the boy was immediately rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead shortly.
Police have ruled out any foul play and have classified the case as sudden death.
Hazimi reminded parents to keep an eye on their children’s activity during the long-term school break to avoid unwanted incidents.
