KUCHING (July 4): Betong district changed into a Covid-19 red zone today after recording 43 cases in the last 14 days, said the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).
The committee added that Julau district reverted to a yellow zone after registering 17 cases in the past two weeks.
“This brings the total number of red zones to 27, orange zones to two, yellow zones to 10 and one green zone,” said SDMC in their daily update today.
The other red zones are Saratok, Tebedu, Lundu, Telang Usan, Song, Sebauh, Bau, Meradong, Asajaya, Tanjung Manis, Tatau, Bukit Mabong, Sri Aman, Pakan, Kanowit, Selangau, Subis, Mukah, Sarikei, Samarahan, Serian, Kuching, Kapit, Bintulu, Miri and Sibu which recorded a total of 6,301 cases.
The orange zones are Simunjan and Matu, with a total of 57 cases, while the other yellow zones are Lubok Antu, Kabong, Dalat, Marudi, Beluru, Limbang, Pusa, Belaga and Lawas with a total of 133 cases.
Daro remains the sole green zone.
The Health Ministry categorises a district with no Covid-19 cases as a green zone, and over a two-week period, with one to 20 local transmission cases as yellow, 21 to 40 as orange and 41 and more as red.
At the same time, the statement said two H&L supermarket branches, in Kota Samarahan and Siburan, are listed in the Health Ministry’s Hotspot Identification for Dynamic Engagement (HIDE) surveillance today.
Meanwhile, the police have issued 94 compounds with 29 in Bintulu, Sibu (29), Kuching (28), Lawas (1), Bau (1), Kota Samarahan (1), Dalat (1), Betong (1), Serian (1), Limbang (1) and Sarikei (1) for violating the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP).
At the top of the list was gathering and no physical distancing (26), loitering in public places past midnight (23), ferrying of passengers over the allowed limit (13), operating premises that were not allowed to open (11), not scanning MySejahtera (6), gathering in public without valid reason (6), failing to ensure working capacity below 30 per cent (4), travelling inter-district without permit (2), not wearing face mask (2) and failing to provide customer registration book (1).
“The total number of compounds issued since the Movement Control Order was implemented in March 18, 2020 to date is 8,768,” said SDMC.
At the same time, an Indonesian man was arrested in Limbang for not scanning MySejahtera or writing his information in the customer registration book and not checking his temperature.
Similarly, the Local Government and Housing Ministry also issued a total of six compounds with three from the Bintulu Development Authority, Sibu Municipal Council (2) and Bau District Council (1).
The offences were not scanning MySejahtera (2), not updating attendance book or incomplete registration book (2) and not wearing face mask (2).
This brings the total number of compounds issued since Feb 1 until now to 1,224.
