GEORGE TOWN: Baling MP Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim today lost a defamation suit against DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng over the Penang undersea tunnel project.
He was ordered to pay RM50,000 in costs.
In his suit, Azeez had claimed Lim had linked him with RM3 million in kickbacks in connection with the project. Lim was alleged to have made the remark at a press conference in 2018.
Azeez sought general and exemplary damages and other relief deemed fit by court.
Deputy registrar Uma Devi Loganathan, in reading out Justice Rosilah Yop’s decision in chambers today, said Azeez did not have enough grounds and failed to produce proof for the case.
