MIRI (July 10): Malaysian Army Veterans Association Sarawak (Miri branch) is rendering its services to the recently launched IGTC-PARC Community Campaign by identifying and distributing aid to those in need.
The charity campaign was initiated on Wednesday by two safety training providers for the oil and gas industry – IG Training Centre Sdn Bhd and PARC Shared Office – in collaboration with several generous businessmen.
The initiative is to help those genuinely in need of food aid regardless of their religious, racial and political stance, as well as to assist families whose livelihood is badly affected by the extended movement control order (MCO).
According to PVTMS Miri bureau chief Kissinger Tutong in a press statement yesterday, they managed to identify and distribute 79 packages of food and daily essentials to families in need here.
“Thanks to the sponsors, especially IGTC and PARC Shared Offices, which have given us the opportunity to participate in this charitable deed.
“We as ex-soldiers once swore to serve the people as well as the country, and the oath is still ingrained in our hearts.
“As army veterans, we want to prove to the community that we are still able to serve the people and country even after retirement,” said Kissinger.
He added that 200 aid packets had been prepared for the first phase of the campaign, and hoped that more generous individuals would come forward to make the campaign a success.
