KUCHING (Aug 24): The police are still investigating the cause and motive of the recent shooting at the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) camp in Kota Samarahan.

In a statement today, Sarawak police commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail said the police are waiting for the full post-mortem report from pathology experts.

He said post-mortems on all victims were conducted at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) Medical Forensics Department and the remains have been handed over to the respective next-of-kin.

“Meanwhile, samples of case items including DNA samples, firearms and bullet casings, were sent to the Chemistry Department and Forensic Unit for scientific analysis.

“The victim’s mobile phone was also sent to the Forensic Unit for analysis to identify the cause and motive of this incident,” he said.

Aidi said investigation papers will be referred to the deputy public prosecutor for further action after a complete investigation with expert reports is completed.

He called on the public not to speculate on this incident that could jeopardise the investigation and to respect the sensitivities of the affected family members.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

The shooting occurred around 7.35am on Aug 13 at the RMAF camp guardhouse.

The four deceased have been identified as Cpl Mohammad Ehsan Sehamat from Asajaya Laut, Cpl Ho Swee Boon from Lundu, Cpl Sharif Mohd Siddiq Al-Attas Wan Sabli from Bau, and Aircraftman Nesly Nabau from Sibu.
