KOTA KINABALU: Sabah recorded 232 new Covid-19 cases on July 1, with five deaths and one new cluster in the past 24 hours.
Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said two of the fatalities were in the state capital and three in Kudat.
“New cluster, Kluster Nahaba 2 in Kota Belud involving infection in community, suspected from a funeral in Kg Nahaba on June 11.
“Index case is a 57-year-old man who had fever since June 14 before tested positive in Kota Belud Hospital on June 20.
“Active detection and screening of 136 individuals consisting of family members as well as close contacts found 26 more positive cases. It includes nine new cases, bringing the cumulative number of positive cases for this cluster to 27 cases,” he said.
All positive cases were referred to hospitals for further treatment and isolation at Kota Belud Hospital, Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Kota Belud PKRC.
In the meantime, all close contacts have also been ordered to be quarantined.
As of Thursday, Sabah recorded a total of 69,677 cases.
