KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Health Department reported 184 new Covid-19 cases on June 16 with two deaths in Tawau and one in Semporna.
Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said this in his daily statement on Wednesday.
“One new cluster recorded today, Kluster Kionsom Kecil in the city centre involving community infection, originated from Kaamatan celebration on May 31.
“The cluster was detected from a symptomatic screening in JMC Kota Kinabalu on June 9. Index case was a 31-year-old worker of Jijiko Engineering Sdn Bhd Inanam and currently receiving treatment and isolated at Covid-19 Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) after tested positive with the virus,” he said.
Following the case, 86 close contacts were screened and 27 new positive cases recorded, 12 negative and 34 samples are still waiting for results.
The total Covid-19 cases in Sabah as of June 16 is 66,730.
