178 new cases, four deaths, one cluster

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah recorded 178 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, with four deaths in Tawau (2), Kudat (1) and Kota Belud (1).

State spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun in his daily statement also revealed one new cluster recorded in the city centre, Kluster Muhibbah Manggatal also involving the districts of Tuaran and Penampang.

“Kluster Muhibbah Manggatal involves a community infection in Mukim Darat here, which also spread to Tuaran and Penampang.

“The index case is a 49-year-old driver attached to a statutory body here, who tested positive after a symptomatic screening at Manggatal Health Clinic on June 20.

“Contact and target screenings were conducted in the locality by the State Health Department and found 60 other positive cases, including six confirmed on Tuesday,” he said.

According to preliminary investigation, infection might have happened from the community in the village.
Targeted screenings are still on going.

Total accumulated cases as of June 29 is 69,203.
