Kuala Lumpur recorded the highest number of infections with 696 cases today, followed by Selangor (503) and Sabah (260).
Noor Hisham said 567 of the 696 cases in Kuala Lumpur were from the Damanlela construction site cluster.
Other states and federal territories which recorded new cases today were Perak (110), Negeri Sembilan (67), Johor (48), Penang (34), Kedah (20), Labuan (11), Pahang (eight), Terengganu (seven), Melaka (five) and Kelantan (three).
No new clusters were reported today. There are currently 189 active clusters in the country.
A total of 120 infections came from prison clusters, namely the Tembok (99), Jalan Harapan (15) and Bakti (six) clusters.
Noor Hisham said the three deaths involved two women and one man, all Malaysians from Sabah. They were aged between 45 and 88 and all of them had a history of chronic illnesses.
There are currently 14,515 active cases with 118 patients receiving intensive care, of whom 56 require respiratory assistance.
Perlis, Sarawak and Putrajaya did not record any new cases today.
Out of the 1,772 cases today, 12 were imported cases.
