156 new cases, one death in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah recorded 156 new Covid-19 cases on Friday with one death in Tawau.

As of June 25 2021, there are 68,388 confirmed cases in the state, said the stare government’s Covid-19 spokesperson, Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.

“No new clusters recorded today, however four localities will be placed under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO).

“The EMCO, effective June 27 to July 10 was decided with the Ministry of Health’s advice, to facilitate the targeted screening on the population and to curb the spread of Covid-19 to other areas,” he said in his daily statement on Friday.

EMCO would be implemented at Kampung Pukat Tanjung Batu Laut and Kampung Baru Pasir Putih in Tawau, as well as Lorong 12, 15 and 16, Taman Fajar and Taman Murni People’s Housing Project, in Sandakan.

Meanwhile, EMCO in several localities were lifted after targeted screenings were conducted and reducing pattern on cases namely Taman Villa Felca Nambazan in Penampang, Kampung Kadazan in Tawau, Taman Puri Warisan, Kampung Lobou 1 and Kampung Bukit Permai here in the city centre, Kampung Skim Cocos in Kunak and Taman Telipok Jaya, Tuaran.

Vaccine registration in Sabah also increased to almost 30 percent, as the Ministry of Health confirmed 29.8 per cent of 18-year-old and above population has committed to be vaccinated.
