KUCHING (July 21): Two premises found to operate beyond the permitted time were among those issued compounds by the police in the last 24 hours for violation of standard operating procedures (SOPs), said the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in its Covid-19 daily update today.
SDMC stated that a total 12 police compounds were issued for offences under the current phase of National Recovery Plan (NRP).
According to SDMC, Kuching topped the number of police compounds issued with eight, followed by Bintulu (2) and Miri (2).
Apart from compounding premises for operating beyond the stipulated time, the other compounds issued were for individuals going out of Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) areas with six, followed by failure to observe physical distancing (2) and failing to scan MySejahtera QR code before entering premises (2).
SDMC stated the police also arrested six individuals comprising one local and five Indonesians at a construction site in Semerah Padi, Kuching. However, no explanation was mentioned in the statement on the reason for arrests.
Following the 12 compounds issued today, the cumulative number of compounds issued by the police so far is 9,438.
Apart from that, four local authorities across Sarawak also issued compounds to those who flouted the SOPs.
Bau District Council issued four compounds, Serian District Council two, Sarikei District Council one and Lawas District Council one.
“The compounds are for offences such as failure to scan the MySejahtera QR code or record particulars on the logbook with four, failure to update the attendance logbook or incomplete entry (2) and for a premise operating without license (1),” it added.
SDMC said this brought the cumulative number of compounds issued by the various local authorities across Sarawak to 1,341.
