Pusa, Saratok revert to orange zones

KUCHING (June 4): Pusa and Saratok districts reverted back to orange zone today after recording 39 and 33 new Covid-19 cases respectively, in the past two weeks, said the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

SDMC said that this reduces the number of red zones in the state to 28 while the other zones remain unchanged at five orange zones, six yellow zones and one green zone.

The red zones are Dalat, Simunjan, Bau, Marudi, Meradong, Lubok Antu, Beluru, Asajaya, Tanjung Manis, Tatau, Julau, Bukit Mabong, Betong, Belaga, Sri Aman, Pakan, Kanowit, Selangau, Subis, Mukah, Sarikei, Samarahan, Serian, Kuching, Kapit, Bintulu, Miri and Sibu which recorded a total of 8,618 cases.

The other orange zones are Song, Sebauh and Kabong, while the yellow zones are Lawas, Daro, Tebedu, Limbang, Matu and Lundu with a total of 69 cases.

Telang Usan is the sole green zone left in the state.

The Health Ministry categorises a district with no Covid-19 cases as a green zone, and over a two-week period, with one to 20 local transmission cases as yellow, 21 to 40 as orange and 41 and more as red.

Meanwhile, the police have issued 55 compounds for violating standard operating procedures with 14 in Kuching, 11 in Bintulu, five in Lawas, three in Padawan, three in Tatau, three in Dalat, three in Mukah, two in Kapit, two in Serian, two in Kanowit, two in Sarikei, two in Saratok and one each in Betong and Kota Samarahan.

Loitering in public places after 10pm tops the list with 17 offenders, followed by ferrying of passengers over the allowed limit (14), inter-district travel without permit (5), operating a non essential business (5), not wearing face mask (4), being inside a premise over the time allowed (3), not physical distancing (3), not updating the attendance book (2), not scanning MySejahtera (1) and entering Enhanced Movement Control Order area without permission (1).

“The total number of compounds issued since the Movement Control Order was implemented in March 18, 2020 to-date was 7,153,” said SDMC.

Similarly, the Local Government and Housing Ministry also issued a total of four compounds, one each in Samarahan Municipal Council, Bintulu Development Authority, Sarikei District Council and Lawas District Council for violating the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP).

The offences were updating attendance book or incomplete attendance book (2), not scanning MySejahtera (1) and allowing customer to dine-in (1).

This brings the total number of compounds issued since Feb 1 to-date to 826.
