MIRI (June 29): A Magistrates’ Court here today released on bail a man who allegedly threatened to burn down his ex-girlfriend’s house.
Senior Assistant Registrar Eleanor Mako Timothy allowed an application by investigating officer ASP Mary Ong for the 29-year-old to be released on RM2,800 undeposited bail with one local surety.
Jacob Sigar Sammy from Jalan Sungai Maong Tengah, Kuching was charged under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
The Section provides for up to two years in prison, or a fine, or both upon conviction.
No plea was taken.
According to the facts of the case, Jacob allegedly threatened to burn down his ex-girlfriend’s house at Jalan Dusun, off Lutong/Kuala Baram.
He allegedly committed the offence on June 4, 2021 at around 10pm.
The court set July 29 for further mention of the case.
Jacob was represented by defence counsel Ranbir Singh Sangha.
