KUCHING (June 14): The frontliners, senior citizens and those under the high-risk group would be receiving their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine during the vaccination programme for the Batang Sadong parliamentary constituency, running from today until June 19.

For this purpose, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, who is Batang Sadong MP, said two vaccination centres (PPV) had been set up for Simunjan District – one at Dewan Mesra Simunjan, and the other at the Rural Transformation Centre (RTC) Munggu Lalang in Gedong.

For the vaccine recipients from Sadong Jaya, she said the PPV would be at Asajaya Sports Complex.

“A total of 3,000 doses have been allocated for Simunjan, targeting 600 recipients per day at Dewan Mesra Simunjan, and 250 recipients per day at RTC Munggu Lalang.

“I call upon the eligible Batang Sadong constituents to fulfil their respective vaccine appointments at the designated PPVs,” she said in a statement yesterday.

The MP also advised the people against blindly believing the baseless claims by certain quarters regarding the efficacy of the vaccines, as all supplies slated for Malaysia had been clinically tested and proven to be safe.

She also called upon all vaccine recipients to continue complying with the stipulated standard operating procedures (SOP).

“Wear your face masks when you are out of the house, avoid crowded places and avoid having close conversations.

“Also, make sure you have had your breakfast prior to receiving the vaccines. Bring along your health records or list of medications that you are currently taking to be reviewed by the health workers later,” she reminded.
