Abg Jo confident S’wak will achieve herd immunity thanks to high vaccination rate

KUCHING (Aug 6): Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg is confident Sarawak will achieve herd immunity by the middle of this month or early September.

He said this is based on Sarawak’s high vaccination rate with the cooperation of various quarters, including the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM).

Abang Johari said this after visiting ATM’s Combat Medic Vaccination Team (CVMT) in Long Singut, Bukit Mabong, Kapit yesterday.

With the help of the CMVT, Abang Johari said 178 Long Singut villagers have been vaccinated.

During the visit, he was also briefed on the local issues in Long Singut and received a special report from Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Jemut Masing, who is also Baleh assemblyman.

Among those present were Minister of Local Government and Housing Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian, Hulu Rajang MP Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong, State Secretary Datuk Amar Jaul Samion, and Eastern Field Command commander Lt Gen Datuk Marzuki Mohammed.
