KUCHING (Aug 4): Sarawak today recorded seven new Covid-19 cluster all in Kuching, said the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).
The committee said in a statement that six of the new clusters were community clusters involving villages, while one is a workplace cluster.
One of the new community clusters dubbed the Kampung Bintawa Hilir Cluster, saw 159 positive cases including the index case out of 223 people screened.
Another community cluster, the Kampung Bunuk Cluster, saw 46 positive cases including the index case out 181 people screened. Nine from the cluster were still awaiting lab test result.
The third community cluster is the Kampung Bintawa Tengah Cluster, which saw 30 positive cases including the index case out of 61 people screened.
The Kampung Haji Baki Cluster saw 16 positive cases including the index case out 111 people screened, while another 17 others were still waiting for their lab test results.
Kampung Semban Cluster saw 23 positive cases including the index case out of 26 people screened under the cluster, while the Kampung Jawa Cluster saw 47 positive cases including the index case out 104 people screened with one still waiting for his lab test result.
As for the workplace cluster, 12 people including the index case were tested positive for Covid-19 from the Jalan Airport Cluster out of 100 people screened, with 18 still waiting for their lab test results.
SDMC also declared an end to the Gran Stumbin Cluster in Sri Aman and the Lorong 3 Kampung Siol Kandis Cluster in Kuching.
The clusters ended after no new case were detected or reported in the last 28 days.
Ten out of the 89 clusters which were still active statewide recorded 117 new cases, with the Kandis Pantu Cluster in Sri Aman recording the most number of new cases at 44, followed by the Kampung Bintawa Hilir Cluster (24).
Other clusters which recorded new cases are the Mega Suai Cluster (17), Kampung Sungai Duuh (9), Kampung Kendaie Cluster (6), Kampung Haji Baki Cluster (6), Tanjung Tuang Cluster (4), Kampung Bintawa Tengah Cluster (3) and Kampung Bunuk Cluster (2).
The Jambatan Lemua Cluster in Beluru and Duyoh Cluster in Bau each recorded one new case, SDMC added.
Meanwhile SDMC also informed that the Sri Aman District has been classified as red zone from yellow after recording 56 local infections within the last 14 days.
Julau District also lost its green zone status and turned to yellow after recording five cases of local infections within the last 14 days.
Sarawak currently have 18 districts classified as red zones, eight orange zones, nine yellow zones, and five green zones.
The Ministry of Health categorises a district with no local Covid-19 transmissions in 14 days as a green zone, one to 20 local transmissions as yellow zone, 21 to 40 as orange zone and 41 and more as red zone.
