Health Ministry issues 34 compounds in Sarawak within July 4-10 for flouting SOP

KUCHING (July 12): The Ministry of Health has issued a total of 34 compounds state-wide between July 4 and 10 for violation of standard operating procedures (SOP), said the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

In a statement, the committee said 18 compounds were issued in Kuching, Limbang (6), Betong (2), Sarikei (2), Mukah (2), Bintulu (2), Miri (1) and Samarahan (1).

It said a total of 30 individuals and four companies were compounded by the ministry from July 4 to 10.

Seven of the compounds were issued for failure to observe social distancing, failure to wear mask (2), refused to obey quarantine order (1), other SOPs violations (20), premises owners failed to prepare MySejahtera QR code and registration book (3) and a premises owner’s failure to limited the number of customers inside (1).

This brought the cumulative compounds issued by the ministry to 325.

Meanwhile, the committee said the police had issued 107 compounds today for SOP violations, including 41 in Kuching, Bintulu (15), Padawan (14), Sibu (14), Lawas (12) and Miri (11).

The violations were being outside after the stipulated hours with 46 compounds issued, gathering in a crowd without social distancing (28), enjoying recreation at public areas not allowed under Movement Control Order (17) and failure to scan MySejahtera QR Code when entering premises (8).

It also included failure to update customers record book with four compounds issued, failure to wear face mask (1), operating businesses not allowed under MCO (1), the number of passengers exceeding the allowed limit (1) and playing basketball without permission (one).

The police had issued 9,253 compounds till date.

As for the local authorities under the state Ministry of Local Government and Housing, the committee said the Miri City Council had issued six compounds for SOP violations, four from Bintulu Development Authority and one from Bau District Council.

The violations were for dine-in service with six compounds issued, not wearing face mask (3), operating without permission (1) and not updating record book (1).

A total of 1,290 compounds had been issued by the local authorities till date.
