SDMC said 75 individuals have been tested positive for Covid-19 form the Sungai Setajam Cluster.
KUCHING (July 10): Sixty-three new cases from today’s 352 daily new cases reported in Sarawak are linked to a new community Covid-19 cluster in Sarikei declared today.
The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the cluster, dubbed Sungai Setajam Cluster, Sarikei, involved a longhouse in Sungai Setajam, Jalan Bulat in the Sarikei district.
“A total of 184 individuals have been swab tested, of which 75 tested positive for Covid-19 including the index case.
“Of the 75 positive cases, 63 new cases were reported today. The remaining 109 individuals tested negative,” said SDMC in a statement.
This brought the state’s number of existing active Covid-19 clusters to 100.
SDMC said 14 among the existing active clusters reported a total of 133 new cases today.
Sungai Setajam Cluster topped the list followed by Nyelutong Cluster with 19 new cases, Lunyim Cluster (17) Kluster Lunyim (17), Tembok Sri Aman 2 Cluster (14), 35 Bintulu Cluster (4), Kilometer 85 Cluster (3), Sungai Pelepak Cluster (3), Jalan Sagang Cluster (2), Pagar Serian Cluster (2) and Benteng Sri Aman Cluster (2).
The Semuja Cluster, Industry 121 Kuala Baram Cluster, Pasar Basah Mukah Cluster and Tembok Miri Cluster reported just one new case each.
SDMC said the remaining 86 existing active clusters did not see any new infections.
