Farmer claims trial to shooting hunting buddy dead

According to the charge sheet, Sindor allegedly shot Wilco William, 35, with a shotgun during a hunting trip between noon and 6pm on Aug 28, 2019.

KUCHING (July 8): A farmer pleaded not guilty in a magistrates’ court here yesterday morning to causing the death of his relative two years ago.

The accused, Sindor Rangas, 62, was charged under Section 304A of the Penal Code for causing death by negligence during a hunting trip at Kampung Sadir, upper Padawan.

Magistrate Zaiton Anuar then set Aug 12 for re-mention of case and allowed the accused released on RM500-bail with one surety.

According to the charge sheet, Sindor allegedly shot Wilco William, 35, with a shotgun during a hunting trip between noon and 6pm on Aug 28, 2019.

It is also said that they were among a group of friends hunting for wild boars.

Sindor is believed to have shot Wilco thinking he was a wild boar.
Wilco died at the scene although the hunting party tried their best to save him.

Investigations revealed that Wilco died from gunshot wounds to his abdomen and pelvis area.

Inspector Merylene Lindan Andrew Mang prosecuted while the accused was not represented by a counsel.

The accused also faces another charge framed under Section 8(a) of the Arms Act 1960 for possessing a firearm and cartridges during the incident.
