A Malaysian recently shared how his car was damaged and appeared to have almost been stolen while parked at his condominium in Damansara, Petaling Jaya
At 9am on Monday, 5 July, Fazri Mustafa revealed that he was heading to his car that was parked near the lobby of his condominium in Damansara. However, as he was walking, he noticed that the remote control was not working.
Just as he approached his Myvi, he found that the front bonnet and bumper were completely ripped off and nowhere to be found.

He also noticed that his car battery was unplugged, there were scratch marks on the driver’s handle, and damage on his steering wheel
Speaking to SAYS, the 30-year-old shares that his Myvi model comes with an in-built steering lock feature, which he presumes that thieves were trying to unlock and instead ended up causing damage.
He also explains that the car alarm would have been ringing, as when he plugged it back, the alarm began to immediately ring loudly.

Fazri explains that he made a police report. However, he said that they were not helpful, as all they did was take a photo and leave without questioning the management.
On top of that, he asked the management if anything can be done to cover the damage costs. Instead, he was told that “it’s parking at your own risk”.
According to him, the management also said that the guards make rounds every hour, so to dismantle his bonnet, bumper, break into the car, and try to disable the steering lock “would have taken at least an hour”.
Unfortunately, Fazri says that the closed-circuit television (CCTV) only covers the lobby area and not the entire parking lot, so he is unable to check what happened.
“I just can’t accept park at your own risk since we pay the maintenance fees and it is their job to keep the parking safe,” he laments.
Fazri hopes this experience will create awareness and serve as a caution for others to look out for their vehicles, more so during this time
Despite taking all the necessary prevention measures by locking his vehicle and parking it properly, he said that this unfortunate incident still occurred.
“Luckily I didn’t have any valuables in the car,” he adds.
