Two longhouses under EMCO spark new Covid-19 clusters

KUCHING (July 4): The State Health Department has declared two new Covid-19 community clusters today, involving longhouses placed under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO).

The new clusters are dubbed the Sungai Entajum Cluster in Tatau and Sungai Pelepak Cluster in Meradong, said the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

“The Sungai Entajum Cluster in Tatau saw 112 longhouse folks screened with 41 testing positive and 71 awaiting lab results,” said SDMC in their daily update today.

All positive cases were admitted to the Bintulu Hospital and Bintulu District Quarantine and Low-Risk Patients Treatment Centre (PKRC).

For the Sungai Pelepak Cluster in Meradong, 163 residents were screened, with 26 testing positive, 61 negative and 76 still pending lab results.

All those who tested positive were admitted to the Sarikei Hospital and Sarikei district PKRC.

At the same time, SDMC also announced the end of the Jalan Agama Cluster in Miri as no new positive cases were recorded in the last 28 days.

There are currently 97 active clusters in the state, with 19 continuing to report a total of 157 new cases today.

At the top of the list is the Sungai Entajum Cluster in Tatau (39), followed by Sungai Pelepak Cluster in Meradong (25), Lunyim Cluster in Telang Usan (22), Jalan Haji Taha Cluster in Kuching (21), Jalan Kidurong Lima Cluster in Bintulu (12), Nanga Tada Cluster in Kanowit (7), Cluster 35 in Bintulu (6), Po Ai Cluster in Sri Aman (5), Nyelutong Cluster in Betong (4), Blimbing Cluster in Bau (4), Sungai Long Seripa Cluster in Sebauh (2), Tanjong Lelengau Cluster in Pakan (2), Jalan Sungai Antu Cluster in Sibu (2), Kampung Sebandi Hilir Cluster in Lundu (1), Nanga Sejugam Cluster in Julau (1), Sungai Kotak Cluster in Meradong (1), Luteng Cluster in Telang Usan (1), Simpang Koko Cluster in Sarikei (1) and Pagar Tebedu Cluster in Tebedu (1).
